The Doyle & Debbie Show Oct. 2011

Once again mom and I headed out on another adventure this this time it was to Lincoln Park's Royal George Theatre(Chicago).

My mom scored tickets to a really funny production called The Doyle and Debbie Show. The the two, Bruce Arnston(Doyle Mayfield) and Jenny Littleton (Debbie) were phenomenal, they portrayed two disfunctional country song p erformers. Doyle, is a veteran performer, some what of a has been, with serious father issues. Debbie, is a single mom that's made a few mistakes and is destined for stardom, there's only one problem...Doyle. I burned a few calories I laughed so hard tonight!!

There is also another character by the name of Buddy, played by Matthew Carlton. He opens the show and also plays some accomapning instruments he is definitely a asset to the show eventhough his speaking rolls are few.
The songs were so funny, it was almost as if they were poking fun at some traditional country records, basically a parody on country music and culture. My mom and I could not stop laughing, the small cast kept the audiences attention from beginning to end. The performance was amazing the talent on the stage was mind blowing, they made you really feel like you had been following the trio for years. The vocal range of Doyle's yoddling and Debbie's sensual crooning had the entire audience's attention,
This is my second time seeing a production at the Royal George and I am pleasantly surprised every time. This production took place in the smaller auditorium in the back there are plenty of seats and there is a bar. The atmosphere made you feel like you walked into a small town backwoods bar that had great entertainment, a fun crown and cheap drinks, it was awesome.

The staff at the Royal George is always kind, professional and clean. If you ever get a chance to visit the city of Chicago, come on over to Lincoln Park and catch a set with Doyle & Debbie.
I have to admit I love doing things that I might not ordinarily do, I'm so lucky to have a mom that shares and opens my eyes to so many different things culturally, artistically and worldly.
Thanks mom for such a fun night, we laughed so hard...

oh and the best part...the show is sponsored by MoonPie, which means you get a complementary MoonPie with your ticket, a sweet blast from the past.
