Child Care

So I was watching the news yesterday, and I was a bit unnerved at the cost of child care. I mean parents are paying so much money just to have their children looked after by someone that is probably not even qualified to take care of the kids in the first place.
Monthly parents are basically paying small mortgages to keep their children in school and or child care. Should it really cost that much to look after a child. Even private schools are becoming more costly, tuition is through the roof. I can't help but feel for the single parents that are working two and three minimum wage jobs just to support their families. How are they paying for rent, food, and daily living if most of their earnings are going towards child care. In no way shape or form am I saying kids don't deserve the best care, but come on, people are really struggling out there. Single moms and dads are having an even harder time keeping it together.
The government can and will only do so much, its up to parents, teachers and child care providers to make a change. Even speak to the powers that be, that control child care costs, fees, and tuitions. Children are the only ones that get hurt in this money game. People seem to forget that kids never ask to be put on this planet. We adults make all the decisions for them, lets start making better choices.
It saddens me when I think of how health care and child care have fallen apart over the years. Having kids was never easy, now its even harder, it makes one think twice before wanting to bring another being into the world. I can only hope that with time it all gets better, from violence, to health care to raising children. Things need to change and it won't happen over night and it will take more than one mans effort. I can only hope that society will not let things get any worse than what they already are.
Let's make some changes out there!!

Mommy and Me Movie Review: Salt & Dinner for Schmucks

Mommy and Me Movie Review

Movies Viewed: Dinner for Schmucks & Salt

Where: The New 400 Movie Theater

Location: 6746 N. Sheridan Road (Chicago, Rogers Park)

So my and I did something a little new this week, instead of seeing the same movie we decided to see different movies, the reason being I had no desire to see Dinner for Schmucks. Not that I am not a Steve Carrel and Paul Rudd fan, I just wanted to see Salt more. Mom Is not really much of an Angelina fan. We still have time to see one another’s movies.

Salt. What a thrill ride, I want to be a spy. I am such a huge fan of Angelina, as expected there was a ton of butt kicking, gun firing and fast chasing. The story was very entertaining, I did feel that there was a bit of back and forth. I found myself wondering when it all was going to unravel, the plot that is. I did figure out the story before the movie was over. With all that said I thought this was a great film. Angelina was a convincing spy, I’m not sure how they are supposed to act but she played the part well.

The chemistry with her co-stars made the movie flow well, there were no awkward scenes, just a fast paced thrill ride that kept me on the edge of my seat. I was very entertained and I was left with the feeling of wanting more. Angelina truck hopped, dogged bullets, was beaten up and still managed to look great. There were many twists that made you think the movie was going in one direction, but it ended up going in another, bad and good depending on how you look at it. Good because it’s always nice to keep guessing. Bad because there seemed times when you wondered when they would get to the point. The way the movie ended there is definitely going to be a part two, at least that what the lead movie goers to believe. All in all a great thrill ride!!

Mom thought her movie Dinner for Schmucks was very funny, there were a few silly scenes overall the movie was a good watch. She went on to say that there were many entertaining moments. The movie was sprinkled with outlandish characters accompanied by comical acts, she enjoyed the chemistry between Rudd and Carrel, very believable.

Basically Rudd’s character worked on the sixth floor, he was promoted to the seventh and that’s when it all starts. The guys on the seventh floor like to get together and invite those that are lacking in all aspects, in their eyes to dinner for an entertaining evening. Rudd’s character is on fence about the dinner and people in his life don’t like the idea much either. I won’t say too much more don’t want to spoil the movie. I definitely think I will have to check this movie out before the week is over. Mom also enjoyed the physical comedy, there was nothing left to be desired.. This movie has it all from taxidermy to puppets, to capes this is a dinner you won’t soon forget.

BONUS: The matinee show is only $5.00 and the regular movie price is only $7.50 how could you not appreciate that. They also serve beer, wine, and liquor, got to love it. How could you not love Beer and a hot dog for $7.00.
